IT CREATES OPPORTUNITIES |
International trade is not "a lottery"
where somebody wins what somebody else has lost. It is a way to arrange
society that creates new wealth from nothing,
through a higher form of social collaboration.
Wealth is created because every country can concentrate its energies
to make what it has comparative advantages for, to specialize in products
or services "it is best at". The higher production, sold
on the international marketplace, provides for the purchase of goods
and services no longer produced "in house" -goods and services
that will be found at better prices and conditions because they too
come from specialized producers.
When a country opens up to globalisation
on the one hand jobs are created in the export sectors, and on the
other hand jobs are lost in the activities that, given the lower costs
of other producers in other countries, are no longer
competitive.
All-in-all the new jobs pay better than the lost ones.
