IT IS A FORCE FOR BETTER |
Globalisation spurs economic growth.
Economic growth drives people's
energies towards the search for wealth, civilising the spirit of competition
inherent in human nature. International trade promotes contact and
communication among peoples.
Both these forces work for peace, by reducing
the attraction of extremisms and by putting the costs of war
out in the open.
A society free from poverty is also the prerequisite for the prospering
of culture, arts, and the humanities. These forces in turn make authoritarian
regimes less acceptable and promote democracy.
Accepting that goods and services from emerging countries may freely
enter the developed countries' markets is the easiest action to promote
the development of those peoples. It is also the least expensive option,
the one that most respects those peoples' dignity, and often the most
effective one (Not meaning in any way to take anything away from direct
aid).
